I made this “HowTo” to help out my MW friends.
How to setup a MW autoplayer in 10 easy steps
1]
The first thing you need is the right browser. If you are not already using Firefox (which I highly recommend), get it here!
2]
Download and install the Greasemonkey Addon for Firefox from here!
2.a Click „Add to Firefox“ to install the Greasemonkey Addon
3]
Restart your browser! (Important! otherwise the next step will not work correctly)
4]
Download and install the Facebook Mafia Wars Autoplayer Script from here!
4.a Click „Install“ to install the Facebook Mafia Wars Autoplayer Script
5]
Open „Mafia Wars“ in your browser.
6]
At the top right hand corner of the page, click „Settings“ to open the configuration menu.
6.a Click „Settings“ to configure the Auroplayer
7]
Hit „Check for updates“ at the bottom right of the configuration panel. If an update is available, click „Install“, then reload the Mafia Wars page. (press F5)
8]
Configure the script to best emulate your own playing style.
These are my settings (you may want to have different settings, depending on your rank and gear)
8.a General panel
8.b Misc panel
8.c Energy panel
8.d Stamina panel
8.e Hitlist panel
8.f Property panel
9]
If this HowTo has helped you, please consider going to the Beef Barons Facebook page and adding yourself as a fan.
(To help support my favorite up and coming band)
10]
Enjoy the game!
b.t.w. For those of you who play „Vampire Wars“, you can also grab this script
edit: It seems that the creators of MW Autoplayer were served a cease and desist order from Zyngas lawyer and were forced to discontinue their excellent work for a short time. The MW Autoplayer script is now being hosted at http://www.playerscripts.com/, however due to Zyngas current definition of “cheating” I cannot recommend it being used.
I find this very unfortunate as the script was available to everyone and endless hours in front of a pc clicking buttons is pretty much only possible if you do not work, have a social life or kids.
Use at your own risk!

The actual settings you will want to use will depend on your level, items and amount of crew. If it keeps telling you there are no available opponents I would suggest taking these into consideration:
1) Change the Maximum Level setting to 15 and then mark the box next to Add My Level. This will look for any opponent that is up to 15 levels higher than your own.
2) The same goes for the Maximum Mafia setting. Raise this to 15 and make sure the box next to Add My Mafia Size is also marked. This will look for opponents that have a mafia crew containing up to 15 more members than you have in your own crew.
3) At or about level 180 there is a feature that removes all players below that level from your opponent list. I had to tweak my settings to account for this (which is why it says 200 and no marked box for Maximum Level in the picture). You may also need to tweak this setting a bit if you are near level 180.
4) One more thing that largely affects how many opponents you see is also the city you choose to fight in. If you are around the minimum level to hang out in Cuba/Moscow you might find that most opponents there are too high a level or have too large of a crew for you to compete with. Try moving your fights to New York.
I hope you find these tips useful, but if you continue to have problems you might want to try leaving a question for the script author at http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/43573.
Best of Luck!

My friends and I mostly think of Facebook as a “time vampire” and the silly tag-you’re-it games played on Facebook is the glaring proof.

As with most things in life, there is a fine line between entertainment and abuse. Playing games, whether on Facebook or anywhere else, can be a relaxing way to spend some excess freetime and there is nothing wrong with a little bit of competition amongst friends, which games like this provide. Of course if you find yourself spending many hours of the day (and/or night) clicking buttons in order to keep up or you start neglecting your daily duties in order to “play one more round” then I agree that such games can also be “time-vampires” slowly sucking the blood out of your professional and social life. One of the reasons I posted this HowTo was to help friends and players to “keep up” without falling victim to the vampire. 😉
